Getting Caught Up
Tips for getting your Project Life album back on track
I'm a heretic. I scrap what I like when I like and don't care what the alleged rules are. I do care about my scrapping friends though and often see them worrying about getting caught up with their Project Life albums so here are some tips:
Forget the whole day/week/month deal
I'm sure Becky Higgins and her marketing team cringe whenever they see the word "week". Project Life was never intended to be like that and it must put so many people off. Even the apparently helpful "I went from weekly to monthly and it changed my life" articles will have you stressed once you're a month behind. Ignore those people who stick to weekly schedules and then brag about it. That's great for them. I expect they have the ironing done and no weeds in their garden. It doesn't mean it's right for you. As for those "support groups" that are making you even more stressed - leave them now!
Leaving the weekly/monthly ethos behind will be the most productive thing you ever did!

Get organised
This means:
1) Organise a method of storing your photos on your computer and getting them printed (for paper style albums)
2) Keep some kind of system for recording what happened in advance of making your pages
3) Organise your cards and scrapping supplies
4) Find a space where you can work on your albums

Keep it simple
Are you getting behind because you want to emulate the Embellishers you see on Pinterest with hundreds of things on a page? (Don't worry, they never look at this website!) If that's what you want to do, all well and good, but it will take you more time. For goodness' sake don't make that kind of page just because your buddies do or you feel you ought to.
There is nothing simpler than putting photos and filler cards in pockets and writing on a journal card.
There is another aspect to keeping it simple. If you have tons of cards/kits and a dozen different styles of pocket page protectors to choose from everything will take longer. I once spent an entire evening on two pages because of a peculiar page protector which then impacted on the next double page spread, of course. I ditched the weird ones in the direction of my neighbour and now stick to a few basic designs. We'll have more on organising your page designs in a later tutorial.
As for kits, it's much quicker to stick to two or three kits that coordinate and we'll be reviewing kits and colour schemes later too.

Skip over the difficult times
Even though my 2014 album was (kinda) in order for January and February my fur baby was very ill and went to the Rainbow Bridge on 30 January. Big hole in the album. I have some lovely photos of her with DH (who was also sick) and I will make some pages but I can't do it now (writing this article 19 Feb 2014). So I started a new pocket page, new left hand side and got on with February. Assume whatever you're leaving out will be at least a double spread, this makes placing the pages easier. Digi scrappers don't have to worry about working out of order.
Take a break
The most important tip!
It's just a hobby. Go and play at some other hobby or different style of scrapping. Learn a language. Read a book. Go outside!
